Biography

Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Fuller Olsen were born on Friday, June 13, 1986 to Janette and David Olsen. They have since divorced. They were born in Sherman Oaks, a suburb of Los Angeles. They have an older brother Trent, and a younger sister Lizzie. They also have a stepsister, Taylor, and a half brother Jake. Ashley is 2 minutes older than her sister and contrary to popular belief they aren't identical twins. They are fraternal twins who just happen to look rather similar.

By the time the twins were a few months old, they had beat out hundreds of other twins to get the part on Full House. The reason that they got the part was because they didn't whine or cry. That’s all it took and they took off. The show was a huge success, and they played Michelle Tanner, the youngest daughter of Bob Saget's character. They both played the same character because California labor laws wouldn’t allow one child to work too much. The show ran for 8 seasons and by the time the show ended in 1995, the girls were ready to take off on their own.

Three years earlier, in 1992, the girls released their first direct to video movie. Cleverly enough, it was called, "Our first video." I am currently attempting to track a copy down so that I can see what it was about. The very next year, Dualstar Entertainment was formed making the girls the youngest producers in history. That same year, their first Dualstar movie was released on video, it was called "Double Double, Toil, and Trouble." In 1995, the girls released their first movie on the big screen, the film was called "It takes two." It grossed about $20 million in the box office.

From there, the girls simply took off, they released 20+ straight to video movies, and 11 episodes of "The Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley." They also starred in two live action TV series and an animated series as well. There have also been book series made about each one of their shows and many of their movies.

In 2000, the first Mattel Dolls hit stores. They are a huge success. In 2001 the girls released their clothing line at Wal-Mart across America. Once again, these clothes jump off the shelves making the girls a buttload more money.

On June 13th, 2002, the girls turned 16. For their birthday they received matching Range Rovers.

In May of 2004, the girls released their second Major Motion Picture. It was called New York Minute and it was released to stellar reviews. Mostly from myself. On their birthday they will become the owners of their company Dualstar, and once again they will make another buttload of money. They will be attending New York University. Hopefully they will continue to make these wonderful films.
